Manic Monday

Prince scrisse nel 1984 una canzone per l'album di Apollonia 6, cantante da lui lanciata e celebre per "Sex shooter". Si intitolava "Manic Monday" e venne poi scartata. Due anni dopo divenne il primo singolo della band tutta femminile Bangles. Il principe di Minneapolis, che corteggiava la leader Susanna Hoffs, acconsentì che venisse incisa e firmò come "Christopher".

"Manic Monday" si installò nelle classifiche inglesi e americane fino a raggiungere il secondo posto senza superare - ironia della sorte - "Kiss" di Prince, stabilmente al numero 1. Fu inserita come primo brano nell'album "Different light".

Il testo parla del risveglio da un sogno romantico alle sei di mattino di un lunedì! Naturale desiderare che invece fosse ancora domenica...
